Message me H is for Houston. H is for harbor. | 48" x 48" |. Acrylic | Psalm 107:30 ‘What a blessing is that stillness as He brings them safely into harbor.’ One of Houston’s most significant economic drivers is the Houston Ship Channel. This engineering marvel allows ships to dock close to ground transportation networks. But it is Galveston Island and the Bolivar Peninsula that creates safe harbor. This painting takes an aerial & abstract view of the Galveston Bay and Trinity Bay entrance with colors reminiscent of the Texas coast well before the Houston Ship Channel existed. "Ob portu: Port of Los Angeles 2021. " | 48" x 48" | Acrylic. AVAILABLE “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9. Author David Daniels writes, “the word ‘opportunity’ comes from the Latin Maritime phrase ‘ob portu’ meaning ‘for port.’ Before modern harbors, ship captains had to watch the tides before they could navigate into port. If the captain didn’t seize the ‘ob portu,’ the ship would have to wait for another tide, a later opportunity. Providence is God seeing and seizing every opportunity to guide His divine purposes into port.” How often do I attempt to get ahead of God’s sovereign plan? 'Tis better to wait for His tide, His perfect hand, to bring me into port. “Sail out to sea and do new things: The Port of New York & New Jersey” 60” x 48” Acrylic on canvas 2022 This abstraction of the Port of New York & New Jersey spans from the Passaic River to the East River, capturing Jersey City, Hoboken, Liberty Island, Ellis Island, Manhattan, Governor’s Island and Brooklyn. The painting was inspired by U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Grace Hopper’s quote: “A ship in port is safe, but that is not what ships are built for. Sail out to sea and do new things.” "I know" | Acrylic and raw canvas | 48" x 48" | Pantego, TX Collector | Inspired by Jeremiah 29:11-13, the painting conveys God's faithfulness to the family that commissioned the piece. It shows their journey from three homes within several miles of each other. The words of Jeremiah are applied to demonstrate how God reveals His plans one step at a time. Jeremiah 29:11-13 11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find when you seek me with all your heart." "The Seasons of the Soul" | 72" x 72" | Acrylic and chalk paint | Colleyville, TX Collector | Inspired by Psalm 104:19 ‘He made the moon to mark the seasons and the sun knows when to go down.’ God is in control watching over my seasons of joy and heart ache with an artful hand to refine and grow me. His view from on high looks beyond the dark side of the moon to orchestrate what is next. "I am the Gate" | Acrylic | 30"x40" | Colleyville TX Collector | Sheep enter through a gate to enter fresh pasture. This painting depicts Jesus words from John 10:9, "I am the gate; whoever enters through be will be saved . They will come in and go out, and find pasture." I am grateful for the comfort I have gained being inside his Gate. "He shines brightest in the valleys" | Acrylic | 48" x 48" | Fort Worth Collector | Though I love my mountaintop experiences, I find that when I am at my lowest point -- the proverbial valleys of life -- God is closer and his Word shines brighter on how to proceed. "As the waters cover the sea" | 60" x 60" | Colleyville Collector | Inspired by Habakkuk 2:14 "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea." "The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places" | Acrylic | 36" x 36" | Miami, FL Collector | Psalm 16:5-6 "Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance." The grass is not greener on the other side of the fence. God is in control. He has planned the days of my life. The joys. The sorrows. And when I wait on Him, and find contentment inside the boundary lines He drew for me, I enjoy His very best -- more of Him. "Wow, I coulda had a V-8" | Acrylic and china marker | 48" x48" | Fort Worth Collector | The stairs represent the progress of time. In my life, the Holy Spirit (the mist that climbs the stairs) helped me recognize my sin and need for a Savior. The red line marks my acknowledgement of Christ's sacrifice to pay my penalty for my sin. Though life's problems do not end when we trust Christ, we live in the richness of His grace He lavishes on us. I wish I had depended fully on Him so much earlier. The title came from an eponymous ad for V-8 vegetable juice that ran in the 1970s. Each ad featured actors regretting their choice for one thing over what was the better choice. "I will refine" | 48" x 48" | Acrylic, India ink, China Marker | Colleyville, TX Collector | Zechariah 13:9 "...I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on My name and I will answer them." I've been refined (many a time) and I am so very glad I can call on Him because He answers me. "Bind my wand'ring heart to Thee" | Acrylic and correction tape | 36" x 36" | Fort Worth Collector | From Robert Robinson's 1758 hymn "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing" came this word picture: "Let thy goodness like a fetter bind my wand'ring heart to Thee. Prone to wander, Lord I feel it, prove to leave the God I love. Here's my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above." I want to be bound to His majesty, away from the temptations this world throws my way. "The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places II" | Acrylic 24" x 24" | Psalm 16:5-6 | Chicago IL Collector "From strength to strength" | Acrylic | 48" x 48" | Colleyville, TX Collector | Psalm 84:5-7 "Blessed are those whose strength is in you...As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a place of springs; autumn rains also cover it with pools. They go from strength to strength..." "He refreshes my soul" | Acrylic | 36" x 36" | Fort Worth, TX Collector | Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul." "Come, fill this place" | Acrylic and house paint | 24" x 24" | Colleyville, TX Collector | Imagine throwing open the lid to your heart, your home, your work and inviting His to come fill the space. Makes me relax at the thought. "When the oceans rise" | Acrylic | 36" x 36" | Hurst, TX Collector | From Reuben Morgan's song "Still": When the oceans rise and thunders roar, I will soar with You above the storm. Father, You are King over the flood. I will be still, know You are God. "Patched up" | Acrylic | 36" x 36" | Colleyville, TX Collector | In the deluge of every day life, it's important to shield your family and yourself from the storm. I've learned: Always carry a patch kit. Pin holes can become gaping wounds if we don't tend to them. The ground I ignore becomes fertile ground for the evil one to set up shop. 'Drain the ocean dry" | Acrylic and gel emulsion | 36" x 36" | Colleyville, TX Collector | In 1050, Meir Ben Issac Nehorai wrote "Could we with ink the ocean fill, and were the skies of parchment made, were every stalk on earth a quill, and every man a scribe by trade, to write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry, nor could the scroll contain the whole, though stretched from sky to sky." This painting suggests a cross section view of the Atlantic Ocean being drained of ink in an attempt to proclaim God's greatness. Impossible to do. "This far you may come" | Acrylic | 60" x 36" Colleyville, TX Collector | Job 38 :8, 11. "Who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst froth from its womb? I said, 'This far you may come and no father; here is where your proud waves halt." "Both Sides Now" | Acrylic, House Pain, China Marker, Gel emulsion | 36" x 36" | From Joni Mitchell's famous song: "I've looked at love from both sides now, From give and take and still somehow, It's love's illusions that I recall I really don't know love Really don't know love at all." To me it's not an admission of the futility of love, just that we don't have it all sewed up. I still blow it. Ask my family. Be patient with me, God isn't finished with me yet. "Passed Over" | Acrylic | 48" x 48" | Fort Worth, TX Collector | From Exodus 12:13 "The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you." This image and passage fills me with gladness. Jesus paid the price for my sin with his blood, so that the penalty I deserve passes over. "The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places V | " 24" x 24" | Colleyville, TX Collector "He brought me out to a spacious place" | Acrylic and house paint | Colleyville TX collector | Inspired by 2 Samuel 22:20 "He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me." I feel His hand guiding me up the stairs to a plateau or stage where the views and opportunities are expansive. "He brought me beside still waters" | Acrylic | 36" x 36" |Colleyville, TX Collector | Psalm 23:1-3 "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul." "Pour on me" | Acrylic | 48" x 48" | Colleyville, TX Collector | Isaiah 44:3 "For I will pour water on a thirsty land and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring and my blessing on your descendants." I want Him to pour on me. "More of you, less of more" | Acrylic and gel emulsion | 24" x 24" | Colleyville, TX Collector | It's a reminder to not let culture sell us on the counterfeit belief that more is better. More of God is best. "Fragrant offering" | 24" x 24" | Dallas, TX collector | Ephesian 5:2 "...and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." "What will be done" | Acrylic | 24" x 24" | Dallas, TX Collector | 1 Samuel 17:26 "David asked the men standing near him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel?” God equips me and calls me to demolish anything that pretends to be bigger than Him (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Freedom in Him is the outcome. "O, Love that wilt not let me go" | Acrylic, latex paint, India marker | 24" x 36" | Arlington, TX Collector | The 1882 hymn penned by George Matheson rings true to today. Verse 1: 'Oh love that will not let me go I rest my weary soul in thee I give thee back the life I owe That in thine ocean depths its flow May richer, fuller be' But it is Verse 3 that inspired this painting: 'Oh joy that seekest me through pain I cannot close my heart to thee I trace the rainbow through the rain And feel the promise is not vain That morn shall tearless be' "The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places lV" | Acrylic | 12" x 24" | Psalm 16:5-6 | San Diego, CA Collector "The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places III" | Acrylic 24" x 36" | Psalm 16:5-6 | Madison, WI Collector
